Recently Microsoft launched the preview version of the second generation Power BI. The licensing and features have changed. The new version of Power BI won’t require customers to use SharePoint Online, rather it will be a stand-alone version. For customers of Office 365, Power BI and Office will work seamlessly together.

The big licensing highlight is that there will be two versions: Power BI and Power BI Pro in which the former will be freeand the latter will cost only 9.99 dollars a month.

For more info, see the pricing table or the official press release concerning the transition between the old and new Power BI.
